History of Bon Air
Bon Air is considered a suburb of Richmond, located within the county of Chesterfield. When it was first established, it was designed to be a resort destination for wealthy Richmonders. The name Bon Air means “Good Air”, so these wealthy Richmonders would get out of the city and its “dirty air” for essentially what would be a vacation for a breath of fresh air. Throughout the area you will see lots of Victorian inspired architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and the central portion of Bon Air has even been designated as a National Historic District.
